JustCurious

...first off let me say this post comes from the heart, the question i'm gonna ask was brought about by a conversation i had with the Mrs...i trust those who'll respond will do so honestly...
...simply stated,i don't know how to type...i had a semester of typing in highschool(passed with a D...lol)...i use only six fingers,my thumbs, index, and middles...i have to look at the keys for most of what i type...i probably don't use proper punctuation,i know i dont spell words correctly, and for the most part i only use capital letters for emphasis or respect...i rarely proofread what i'm typing ,so i know thats a small issue in and of itself...i try my best to 'type it like i think it',i feel its better that way...a good friend coined the term 'living post',i liked it,i stuck with it...

...well the Mrs has taken to reading my posts and comments, and asked me to explain why i use the three periods the way i do...i told her the truth...i don't know...force of habit i guess...it is(to me) a break in thought,or possibly it's just a 'tick'...she thinks its hard to read and/or understand,so here's my question...

...is my 'method' of correspondance hard to read and/or understand ?...i mean, its you folks that read this,so i take your opinions seriously...should i try to type more 'proper' ?...should i change my posts and comments ?...if my three periods are too much, tell me...lol...nicely !...i can't handle rejection...lol...well its approaching 3:15...in the A.M. my time,7:30 comes too soon...goodnight...

I don't have any problem reading your posts Ken. Personally I like the "format" of your typing. I've never noticed any spelling errors, and punctuation seems good. Keep up the good work!

Hey Ken...
If you notice, I use the same 3 periods in my post!

I've always felt that I try to type it as I speak it, which probably drives some people nuts!

I say "type it from your heart, reguardless of whether or not folks think it is proper grammar".

I like it and wouldn't change a thing!

Ken,

I think a blog reflects the personality of the blogger. One can infer a few things about the person behind the keyboard based upon what is said, and how it is said.

Your blog is you, and if people (all respect to your Mrs.)start demanding the ability to edit your commentary and dictate your style, you might as well be working for a newspaper.

Yeah, newspaper.

We can all see how well that worked out. ;-)

Hi Ken,

I do not have a problem with your posts or your writing style.

Like Matthias, I have never noticed any errors, but then I don't go out of my way to find them and point them out. We all make mistakes so if they are in there, I say so what, it isn't hurting anybody.

As far as the 3 dots, that is called an Ellipsis. An ellipsis is used in writing to show an unfinished thought or a pause in speech and even at the end of a sentence to indicate silence. So...again, I don't have a problem with your use of them. I do use them myself on occasion. :D

I agree with Catman when he said that the blogs are an extension of ones self. They give us a peek into the "real" person behind the screen and asking someone to change their writing style is in a way asking them to change a part of themselves and it shouldn't be done. I mean no offense to Mrs. Ken this is just my honest opinion.

I will step off my soap box now...stepping off. :D

To sum it up Ken, do not change a thing. Your style of writing is uniquely yours as are your comment and post formats. You are doing just fine, my friend.

Keep up the good work!

Hugs~Felinae~

...and in defense of the Mrs,she was only questioning the three period thing(ellipsis'...lol)not the 'proper grammar' thing...all the other was mostly self deprecating...sorry i didn't get back last night, went straight to bed,was 3:00...the three B's last night was bath,bourbon,bed...lol

Been lurking around your blog a couple weeks now. I'm not even from the USA, but I understand your posts very easily. No need to change your style of writing.

BTW-I live in Trinidad & Tobago, and blog at http://www.airgunstt.blogspot.com/

The blogosphere is just another part of local community, projected to the entire wired world, through technology.

So if you speak with a local/regional accent, but can still be understood by others, then why can't you write/blog with your ...accent...?

Anyone say they don't understand you is a liar/pretentious snob.

...Keep blogging...

Don't change a thing, Bro...
I don't "know how" to type either... and constantly use the three periods.
Written from the heart, and it reads that way, my friend...
Though I proofread mine, it's only to make sure no gross errors were made-- like saying "a CROCK of Sh*!" instead of, um, leaving the 'R' out...
ha!
You're easy to read, and I've never not understood your intended message... so, keep six-fingering from the heart, budddy!
