...looking back is still a bit fuzzy...sorry,last song of the day stuck in my head,can't get rid of it.

If we could know then,what we know now...as simplistic as this blog has been started,it has opened a pandoras box of memories,complex thoughts and emotions...if ya read from the begining of these 'rants'...you may see a basis for said 'rants'...

...Segway to early 90's...(couldn't)didn't want to lose house and 'toys'...young couple,married a few yrs,two daughters,good job,O.T. when ever i wanted(needed) it...blah blah blah...sold half my land to the (out)in-laws..still had ten acres...wtf...planned to buy different parcel anyway,get something more remote...94' AWB Clinton Yrs came next...AR's were good to me...built and sold alot of shooters,the ranks of 'pals' grew form 7 to 9,as i met new people...9 people...9 people i had as 'pals'...thats it...we(collectively) built and sold a shitload of shooters,using the 'pre-ban'/'post-ban' thing to its fullest...through the early to late 90's,detroit/subarbs immigrant population exploded...this was the largest arab poulation,in any city,out side the middle east...kid you not...illegal aliens from everywhere,jumped on the detroit bus...property values plummeted,drugs,gangs/'banger' wannabes,welfare bums...and believe me,detroit already had its share of slackers to begin with...my heighborhood went to hell in a handbasket(as did most of the white middleclass 'hoods')...jobs dried up cuz those bastards worked under the table with phony I.D...all the stores,gas stations,coffee shops,et-al were purchased by the arabs,the few mom-n-pop shops left,dried up,and blew away...we had Meijers,K-Mart(Wal-Mart wasn't close to me...only a few communities had 'WallyWorld' up north)grocery stores:FarmerJack,Kroger, and A&P...the few occasions we(I) ate meat that i didn't kill,we bought from a mom-n-pop-meat market,bread,and baked goods mom-n-pop-bakery...great food from numerous street vendors,and 'ethnic towns' of restaurant choices...chinese,mexican,greek,italian...

Anyway...once the 'big bidness' stores were all that was left,i wilted...The 'survivalist' in me went into a semi-dormant stage,the 'prepper' in me geared up for the apocolyptic Y2K thing...if i(me and mine)were gonna die,it wasn't gonna be because lack of firepower and/or ammo...after about six months of 'preppin',the week after Thanksgiving 99'...we bugged out,went up north to the 'property'...Best dern Holiday we ever had,bar none...used all my Vac time,sick and personal days,and stayed thru the new year at the 'property'...we did well...we did very well indeed,ate well,slept well,stayed warm...did i mention ,WE ATE WELL...we 'played' almost 6 straight weeks...guns,trucks,snowmobiles,huntin',fishin',and drinkin'...man,was it cold that year...we used half,of what i estimated to be,6 months of wood(get thru the winter if civilization collapsed at midnite,new years eve)

Needles to say,the wood thing made me realize how inept i was at 'preppin'...good thing the stuff didnt hit the fan...the 'base' plan was o.k at best,as i say...right church,wrong pew...BUT,it set in motion the man i am today...forward: early 2000,lost job(quit really),sold it if it wasn't necessary,paid off as much as i could,went delinquent on the rest...Moved back home(with yankee wife and 2 daughters as prisoners...hehehe)...Back to Dixie,back home 'down south'...(i kept the 'property' for a couple more years so we had a vacation spot 'up north') New house,new job,some new friends,and my new Son...then...9/11...rest is history as they say...
Been researching,reading,watching,learning,anything survival/preparedness oriented...i will not be caught with my ass hangin' in the breeze ever again...
