Revisited...

...forever flashbacks, that's what i call them...cuz they happened 'forever ago', anyway, the last few days have brought about a plethora of'em...our town festival was this past weekend, car show, corndogs, funnel cakes, kiddie rides, arts and crafts, the works...key words,'car show',it was the best this year(been to last 8 yrs worth, three times as many cars,as there ever has been in the past) which led to memories of Motown...The Dream Cruise,Autorama(now called the detroit auto show, but we all still call it autorama) just to name a couple of the hundreds of car shows...

so...to the point,two evenings in a row,we cleaned cars,my truck,van and my oldest girls camry...radio from garage crankin' out some tunes,cold beer,hot BBQ,all the doors opened,hoods popped,trunks etc...we even waxed the door jambs...lol
...taught my daughter how to clean her car properly...lol(she exclaimed "next time i'm drinkin' a beer"...lol...yeah right...lol) anyway,it reminded me of times past, when a few of us would have a car cleaning day at the park...same M.O. beer, wax, loud music, maybe some frisbee...man,did we take care of our rides...

...my old truck still looks good as hell, even the van scrubbed up o.k...i thought about our recent trip back to detroit, there are still a lot of Broncos around up there(not many around these parts, every once in a while i still get a "hey, nice truck dude"...talk about ego boost...lol)... but all(save one that i saw) the Broncos up north had the cancer...most were of an aggressive nature, being the salt belt and all...lest we not forget,my horse spent her first four years of life up there...and she don't have a lick of rust...cuz i took care of it,washed it religiously, kept it waxed...now all i want to do is drive it up north,go cruisin' the local strips, just by sheer comparison,it'll be a 'headturner'...lol

so...in summation, carnivals, car shows, festivals, family time...a great long weekend has been burned into the 'forever flashbacks' to be revisited at a later date...

...i sat back on the porch, lit a smoke, cracked my last beer,it reminded me of Clint Eastwoods 'Gran Torino'(no...not the gun play scenes...lol)

...staring at my truck...SWEEEET...

Thank You, Ken for sharing your "forever flashbacks", it sounds like a fun time.

I can so appreciate the time and effort you guys put into your cars to make them look good.

A few of my neighbors have old hot rods that seem to get a good going over almost every weekend.

I miss going to car shows, haven't been to one in almost 15 years.

Have a great day!

Hugs to you and yours,
~Felinae~

The nice part of living in Florida is car shows at least three times a week. Plus the cars stay clean longer.

Never get to old for car shows.

See Ya

Ken, great post brother. I was also taught to take care of your vehicle and mine shows. I love car shows and we have a big one locally each year. Burnouts are the best part!

Send me an email Ken I have a question to ask you (kentuckypreppersnetwork@gmail.com).

Ken,

I miss my old rides, and old haunts. There used to be an A&W Drive In near where I lived.

Girls still waited on the cars in roller skates and poodle skirts during the summer. That was in the early 80's.

Bleach on the 50's, burn out contests, and "open header" days.

Open header days everyone replaced their exhaust system with straight pipes, and got "fixit" tickets from the cops.

When I think back on those days, I get wistful, and a little sad.

The kids today will miss out on so many of our "rites of passage", and never get to experience crazy things like throwing a 350 Chevy with a stuffer into a Datsun Z, buying a running $100.00 junker from the wrecking yard just to drive it into a tree, or stealing some guys dad's chainsaw and building a hot rod radio flyer wagon.

Thanks, man.

For the memories.
